Born in Harvey, IL, raised in Park Forest, attended Rich Central High School and University of Illinois. After receiving my degree in Education, I spent seven years as a History/Psychology teacher and football/wrestling coach at St. Joseph-Ogden High School. Although I loved teaching, I chose a different path and entered law School at John Marshall Law School. I received my Juris Doctorate Degree, passed the Bar Exam and began my association with Donald Bettenhausen, a fellow Sertoman. We are partners for the firm Bettenhausen, Jarman and Massari, Ltd. located in Frankfort.
My affiliation with Sertoma began in November 1987 when I joined the Tinley Park Sertoma Club. During my tenure in the club, I served as President for multiple years and held most other Club offices. I also served as the Central Illinois District Governor for two terms and was named a Distinguished Governor. I was the recipient of the Second Chance GEM Award and Centurion Award and was named Club Sertoman of the Year and District Sertoman of the Year. In 2019, I was honored with a Lifetime Service Award by Sertoma International. In 1992, I was elected to my first term on the Board of Directors for the Regional Sertoma Speech and Hearing Center. I served on most committees with the Board of Directors and also served three terms as Board President and was on the Executive Board of the Center for eight years. During my tenure, I co-chaired the Center’s Sertoma Fantasy Baseball Camp and Mardi Gras fundraiser. In 2006, I began several years of service on the Board of Directors of Southwest Community Services (now CTF). I have been married to Nola for 31 years, a proud Parent of four children, and I have one grandson.
I am currently semi-retired and enjoy music, gardening, cooking and travelling. I joined the Action Sertoma Club in 2024. I am Proud to Be a Sertoman.
